Minnesota Area Geriatric Education Center
The Minnesota Area Geriatric Education Center (MAGEC) is part of the network of geriatric education centers located around the country. GECs are funded by the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA), which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Housed in the School of Public Health, MAGEC is well positioned to create dynamic partnerships between faculty, researchers, elder care professionals, and other experts to provide better care for the aging population. The MAGEC faculty includes professors from several colleges, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of both gerontology and geriatrics.
MAGEC consortium members are located throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin (currently there are seven, plus the U of M) design and deliver learning opportunities for a variety of audiences.
Signature MAGEC events and learning opportunities include Summer Institute and the Distinguished Lecture Series featuring presentations by national experts on issues relevant to older adults.
